DO YOUR OWN THING

Fall pOTTERY diy oPEN sTUDIO

Every Wednesday from August 6 to October 29, 2025.

Morning Session:  9am to noon  or    Evening Session:  6pm to 9pm

Ages:  14 and up

Enjoy creating your own masterpiece from stoneware clay - no set project- just make whatever you like at your own pace.  For hand building,  no prior clay experience is needed, but only minimal instruction beyond the basics will be provided.  There are reference books available in the studio.  If you want to use the wheel, you must already know the basics of centering and pulling the clay up to form a cylinder.

Cost:  $30 per person per 3 hour session.  This includes 3 pounds of clay use of tools and equipment. Additional clay will be available for purchase at $1 per pound.   If you want your piece to be fired (to make it permanent) there will be a firing fee of $20 per 1/2 shelf in the kiln (how large you make your pieces determines how many pieces will fit on the shelf),  An additional $5 will be added for each pound over 3 lbs. It will take about 2 to 3 weeks for your work to dry and be fired the first time.  Depending on what you make, you may be able to glaze your work immediately after it is made. If not, you will need to return and glaze after your work has been bisque fired. After glaze is applied it will be fired again. The firing fee covers use of glaze and the two firings.

There is limited space (4 for hand building and 1 wheel) and you must reserve a time.  You can choose either the morning or evening time and work for the full 3 hours or until you have finished, whichever comes first.  You will be responsible for cleaning up your work area and tools before you leave. There is a form you must complete and sign before starting to work.
